I took off for the wild yonder, gazing up at the Milky Way sprawled across the night sky. It was my son's dream. He was a stargazer, an astronomy buff since he was knee-high. On his birthday, he saw his first meteor shower in the wild. Tragically, that same night became his last. I was determined to make his dream come true. The divorce papers, signed by Elias, landed in my mailbox. Maybe it was guilt, but he rewrote the terms, leaving me with a lion's share of our assets. I took it all without batting an eye.

The sky ripped open with a roar that shook the yacht to its bones. Flames poured down like molten rain, and I knew in that split second we were all dead if we didn't move. "Dragon!" I screamed, grabbing the railing as the deck ignited in a whoosh of heat. "Avery, get down!" She didn't listen. She never did. Her eyes locked on the massive crimson shape circling above, wings beating like thunder. The beast was huge, scales gleaming blood-red under the sun, its jaws wide and spitting another burst of fire straight at the stern.

“Mommy Calling.” “Roland.” A female voice called causing Asrar to be curios. He turned his head so it was behind the boy. He didn’t want him to be hurt if it wasn’t his mom but he also didn’t want mom to think he would hurt them. Neither one worked as a, almost as large as him, silver dragon came out of the sky and took him out. Asrar made sure the boy was safe before he got into an all out fight with the new dragon.

I'm not crazy about everyone knowing that my powers, but I know that any ally of our pack is safe. Saige is going crazy in my head when I start smelling the most delicious smell. It smells like sandalwood and mint. I was lost in that scent when the most beautiful dragon I have ever seen lands in our wood line, lets off two children, and after getting dressed approaches us. I raised an eyebrow in utter disbelief, my breath catching sharply in my throat from the sheer surprise of his sudden departure. But the next brother did not come from below the ground like I had fully expected him to. No, this time the threat descended directly from above. A large, incredibly muscular creature appeared through the parting clouds in the sky. “I am Aerius,” a sleek, whistling voice echoed through the wind. “Master of the endless gales. Hold tight if you wish to see the world as it truly is.” The air dragon flapped its massive wings with a powerful, deafening beat, hovering briefly in the sky before folding its wings close to its long body.

That was when she noticed an old red binding book on her bedside table. There was a name on it, (Nightwing.) It also had a golden dragon encrusted just below the name. Catori's breathing came out in a rush at that, all sorts of thoughts running through her mind. Did a Dragon leave it here? She took up the book gingerly and examined it. Electric current raced up her arms, causing her to drop the book. The moment it dropped to the floor, it opened to a page on its own. Catori got down on the floor to inspect on the page. It only illustrated an image of a dragon.

From a few aisles away, she heard Adrian’s voice, soft and patient. “Nope, I think that one's about space. You want the one with the dragons, right?” Nora giggled. “Yeah! Dragons eat way more than astronauts.” “I’m not so sure about that,” he replied, pretending to be serious. “Astronauts like to snack a lot.” Amelia grinned to herself, hugging the journal to her chest. She found them sitting on the floor, Nora with her legs crossed and Adrian crouched beside her, holding up a book that had a dragon on the cover.

While the clouds continue to cry, I turn away and continue down to the small lake. When I make it to the lake, the rain has finally slowed to stop, leaving the earth coated in a sheet of fresh water. Looking up at the sky, I try to see if I can spot Soren and Ellie. But the only dragon I see is Soren. His large emerald, green body swoops down, blasting out a gust of wind that sends my hair flying around. Having been only the second dragon I've had yet to lay eyes on I can't help but admire him. His body is long and sleek, sitting a few feet shorter than Ellie in dragon form. He has muscle but isn't as heavy built as Ellie, showing that his form is better for speed rather than brute strength.

The book has a grey cover with golden encasing but no name was written on it. She opened it and tried to read its contents but her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. The words written weren't in English and so she couldn't understand it. She scanned the pages, flipping them in hopes that she would see any line in English. There was none but however, there was a drawing of a dragon at the end of the book, she concluded that Drake might know something since it was obviously related to dragons. “I have to bring this to Drake” she decided and took the book along with her to return back to her room.

Kayo tackles Rowan so hard they both go down in a pile of tails and books and pure joy. We stand in the center of it all, six shadows stretching long across the plaza, while the sky above us rearranges the stars into one new constellation: A blackbird carrying a burning sun, wrapped in coyote tracks, circled by nine fox tails, framed by dragon wings and an open book. Permanent. Real. Ours. Later, when the sun finally rises (real sun this time, golden and gentle), the Sky King approaches alone. No crown. No armor. Just an old man in simple gray robes, eyes the color of distant thunder.
