The creature was massive, perhaps thirty feet long, though it was hard to tell from the constantly moving coils that now separated the Golem from Fernández.
The creature reared up, its head eye level with the Golem. It swayed back and forth, looking at Charley, then down at Fernández. The snake opened its massive mouth, showing two rows of teeth, and spoke. “Insssolent thing of mud and magic it hissed. You denied me my sssnack!”
Fernández was dumbfounded, frozen in place. Dios Mio! It talks!
“Fernández!” snapped the Golem. “Shoot the big, scary, talking snake, please!”
