I held it up. “This,” I said, voice low, “is what my father tried to use.” Aria looked down at the small black box. Her brow drew together. She turned it over in her hands. “What is it?” she asked. “A network interrupt device,” I said. “A remote kill switch. It was wired into the venue’s servers. It was connected to the main network backbone for your presentation.” Her head snapped up. Horror crossed her face. “He wanted to shut down the presentation?” she asked.

I checked the switch, sure enough, it wasn't turning on the lights. After opening up the switch plate, I found a broken wire and quickly repaired it.
