The little girl was very glad to get what she was searching for. Lexa went through the page that explained how to hide any scent, but the process was somehow strange to her, and she checked the book again to make sure she picked the right one. Is this book a joke or what? She questioned herself inwardly and shook her head. Lexa continued to read the page, but it was kind of difficult for her, cause she had no opportunity to get educated. The only way she got to know how to read was through her friends and some little teachings she did for herself.

Allie adjusted her wedding dress and said excitedly, "The wedding is next week. Are you sure you can be my maid of honor?" I thought about it and replied uncertainly, "I'm not sure whether I can take time off." Then I poured out all the strange things happening at work, ending with a sigh. "The Alaskan Malamute I take care of seems off somehow. Do you think I should take him to a vet?" At some point, Allie stopped what she was doing and stared at me blankly. The guard smirked, slapping his baton against the bars once more, his voice dripping with scorn. "The royal court is ready to judge you... traitors." The iron door of the cage screeched open, and rough hands pulled Mother and me to our feet, shackling our wrists with cold, unyielding chains. The clinking metal reverberated in the hollow silence, heavy and foreboding. I stole a glance at Mother, whose face was a mask of determination, every line etched with an unspoken promise of survival.
