Why had they failed me so miserably? I dropped my gaze to my plate and pretended to cut a piece of meat. My mind was racing. I had let myself believe Alpha Callum's brother, his most fearsome general, Dearon Conaran, was dead. Everyone in Sarendonia trusted the news, saying he had died mere weeks before the Great Battle, and Jarith had been too arrogant to verify it. The so-called great Alpha of the Silver Mountain Pack had ignored the potential threat solely to announce his victory—a victory that had never been real.

There was no way in hell she could be attracted to the man. “Number seven,” he continued reading as if he had not just insulted her. “If deals fall out for any reason, nobody gets to know the truth and by default Ashton is the culprit.” Well, he himself had wanted her to paint him blacker than the devil. He grinned. “Now that is something I agree with you completely.” She rolled her eyes without responding. “Last condition. Number eight: The last day of the deal is exactly five months from now, the eighteenth of December.”

The face that greets me is not the one I was hoping to see. "Hello, sweetie pie," Danny says, smiling. But I can tell it's fake, even though the only light source is the moon. Danny is dark-skinned. His black hair is styled in a low cut, and he has a beard. The Dolce & Gabbana suit he's wearing does little to hide his muscles. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't ripped. To sum it up, Danny is a gorgeous man, but even with all his handsomeness, he is the worst romantic partner I have ever met-except Jacob if I'm including that horrible human being in the running, too.

He said calmly, he picked up the glass of wine and took a long sip before placing it back on the vintage table. "Which rule are you talking about?"Asked the prince. "You of all people know that if any member of this kingdom associates with the enemies it's a crime." The king shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't have any care in this world. "He's not an enemy! She's my mate!"The prince roared. He hated it when people said that werewolves were enemies because he had fallen in love with one of them. Well,he used to think that they were enemies before he found out that his destined mate was a werewolf.

It should never be him. My stomach twisted painfully and my vision blurred. I felt myself stumbling forward even while on the chair that I was at. Dread and horror filled me. I thought I ran away from dangerous men, but this man standing in front of me was more dangerous than any of them. He was feared by all. But most importantly, this man was the greatest enemy of my family. The Ferrari Pack. From Alpha Alessandro, his father to him, Deangelo, the son. The cruelest set of werewolves ever.

I wondered how long it would take you.” My stomach dropped. The Phantom and Dennis. One and the same. The enemy we’d been chasing, the shadow haunting us was him all along.

He spoke to me like he was talking to a little girl. I nodded, feeling my lower lip tremble. “You’re mean,” I pouted. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to the beach, and when I get back, I want to see my room normal again. We’re enemies here, I get it, but outside, it’ll be like we’re the best friends in the world.” I patted his shoulder. “I don’t see you as my enemy, Amanda. You see me as a threat because of everything with the trial, I know, but I’m just trying to do the right thing,” he said seriously.

Why had he fled immediately after that? Was it true that those with the loudest bark had the weakest bite? What happened to Phantom's dignity? Right then, Darren let out a roar. "Damn it! That bastard's making a run for it!" He grabbed a branch and went after Phantom. "Mr. Gulley, don't go after him!" Cassian shouted, but Darren didn't listen. As it was, out of all of them, Darren was certainly the one who resented Phantom the most. Everstream had felt like a secret paradise hidden from the rest of society, but Phantom's actions left all the villagers living in constant fear.
