"The child doesn't know she was chosen. But when the blood moon rises, everything will awaken. Especially the truth… and the heir that was hidden." The clip ended with a crackle. Alessia's mind reeled. "What hidden heir? And who's the chosen child?" Daisy exhaled. "Well, well… I've dug as deep as I can. And what I found shook me too."

Vanessa followed shortly after. Leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, Vanessa smirked. “Isabella, aren’t you afraid? Digging up other people’s dirt like this… what happens when yours comes out?” Isabella’s eyes narrowed slightly, a cold glint flashing within them. She turned, voice indifferent. “Who doesn’t have secrets in this industry? You included… Miss Hartley.” She deliberately emphasized the surname. The heavy rain had subsided into a low, cold mist hanging over the Chicago skyline. Inside the private chapel tucked into the executive level of Vance Tower, the air was thick with the scent of beeswax candles and damp velvet. There was no music, no guests, and no white veil. Maya stood before the small mahogany altar, the floor-length emerald green silk gown whispering against her heels with every breath she took. The heavy antique diamond choker cold against her throat was a stark reminder of who she was supposed to be: Arthur Harrington’s sole legitimate heir.

My family's fate was sealed in an ancient war. We saved the lord of the Clare clan. In return, their lord forged an ancient blood pact with my line. Each generation, a woman from my family can choose a mate from the Clare heirs, to birth a hybrid child—one who walks in daylight, blessed with eternal life. When my time came, I didn't hesitate. In twenty three years of existing in this family nobody had looked at both of us and chosen me. Nobody had been presented with the beautiful, well mannered Vivienne and then decided to choose a house maid.

Yvette jumped up from the bed, shocked and confused. I locked eyes with her, and my tone was serious. “Answer me. Can you do it?” When she reluctantly nodded, I finally let out a sigh of relief. Yvette still looked bewildered. “Queenie, what are you planning?” I recalled the layout of the study and the strange things in the cabinet in my mind. Piece by piece, the final clue to this bizarre adoption puzzle clicked into place. “I know which one of us is the real Grant heiress…”

Every respectable person in the city was invited to attend. Everyone knew that the mysterious Finnigans had an heiress who had gone missing years ago and had recently returned. So, many of them were curious about her. I arrived early at the venue. Some of the guests didn't know who I was, so they began openly talking about me without knowing it. "I heard that the heiress eloped with a random guy." "It wasn't a random guy. I read the news. He's actually the newest heir to the Ramsay family in Kendleton."
