The Strange Land Between A Town And A Hill

The Strange Land Between A Town And A Hill

Again? I crumple the letter and throw it in a fire lit on the twigs close to the rocky side of our yard. I go to my mom’s room. She is sleeping soundly like the deep waters of the ocean. Oh, mom, my mother. “I’ll see you again, my mother,” I said in silence as I bid her a farewell.

Whispers of Sikar

Whispers of Sikar

Everything about this place, from the tree standing before her to the tangible serene sensation in the air, was a perfect match of the description in the book. Desperate to delve even further, Lyda set the lantern down on the rocky ground and removed the pack from her back. She leaned against the tree, took out the leather-bound book, and immediately began flipping through it. She took this time to skim through all the pages between the first passage regarding the rhododendron bushes and the bone-chilling page 47, hoping to find something more about this place which the writer spoke of so malevolently.

A Deal with Desire

A Deal with Desire

Chapter 42: Whispers in the Desolation Xal'dar trudged through the desolate wasteland that was once Xylos. The vibrant forests he remembered were replaced by a twisted mockery of nature – skeletal trees clawed at the blood-red sky, and the ground was littered with the shattered remnants of buildings. A chilling wind howled, carrying with it the mournful echoes of a world lost.

Blood Ties And Moonlit Lies

Blood Ties And Moonlit Lies

I jolt awake, heart pounding, breath caught in my throat like I’ve been drowning in smoke. My shirt clings to me, damp with sweat. The dream . . . I blink, trying to shake the fog, but fragments cling to me like burrs. Wasteland. That’s the only word for it. Everything was ash and ruin—houses reduced to smoldering skeletons, thick smoke curling through the sky like ghosts rising from their graves. The air stank—burned flesh, scorched timber, the metallic scent of blood. And in the middle of it all . . . her.

Hunters: The Prequel

Hunters: The Prequel

“She’s the Goddess of Wisdom. When she finds what she’s looking for, she’ll come out.” ____________________________________________________________________ “No, it’s not here either. Where could it possibly be?” A woman spoke to herself as she tossed the book she was holding onto the floor in exasperation. The discarded book did not land with a thud like it was supposed to- rather it landed on another book. On the floor, several books littered the ground. Leaving no space for one to walk. Some of the books were opened with footprints all over them. The luckier once had the blessed fate of landing on the floor closed and protected.

I hope that’s not the end end. So many left off pieces of the story all his friends on the other world, all the other gods story lines, he’s only used his blood born weapons and armour twice. Hasn’t even made it out of dreamscape yet. Still have everything in true verse going on while he “asleep”

Betrayed By One, Chosen By Another

CHAPTER 74 Emily's P.O.V The waste lands, as we called them, were a vast no man's land stretching between the packs. No Alpha had power out here, and no one recognized any authority in the wastelands. Here was a haven for rogue wolves, exiles and outcasts. My wanderings led me to the prancing pony, an inn that stood in isolation on the grounds of the wastelands. Here, I knew I would find rest and refreshments.

Bloodbound: The legacy of Serelai

Bloodbound: The legacy of Serelai

"The echo is one of beauty, but it's buried under so much grief. It's like a beautiful song played at a funeral. It only makes the silence afterwards feel worse." They left the amphitheater, the weight of the world's despair heavier on their shoulders. For days, they traveled. They found other places—a vast library where the "books" were frozen, silent light sculptures containing dead knowledge; a garden of stone flowers that had never bloomed; a plaza with a dry fountain whose dust-choked basin spoke of a thirst that was more than physical.

Three Months of Mourning

Three Months of Mourning

The evening breeze was gentle, carrying the fresh scent of early summer plants growing. In the courtyard below, children laughed and ran around. Elderly residents strolled leisurely. Life flowed on in its most ordinary and solid form. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with fresh air. The three months after Arya's death, which had been full of her family's scheming, were like a long, oppressive nightmare. Thankfully, I had woken up. Wounds would scab over, pain would fade, and the lessons I learned would stay with me, making me stronger and wiser going forward. Night fell, and the city lights came on. I went back inside and turned on the lights. Warm illumination instantly filled the ent

burn between us

burn between us

Dante had retrieved him after forty minutes with the specific patience of someone who had anticipated exactly this. "You were in there for forty minutes," Dante said. "I found three books," Elian said. "One of them is for you." "You always say that," Dante said. "I always mean it," Elian said. The book was, when Dante saw it that evening in the hotel room, a collection of essays on the philosophy of place — the specific relationship between people and the land they inhabit, how belonging shapes both the belonging person and the place that receives them. Written by a Welsh geographer in the 1970s and reprinted once and essentially out of print except in the second-hand bookshops of Hay-on-Wye
