Romans & histoires The Wife He Burned, The Queen She Became

The husband answered. “Then let's take it to the forest and burn it.” The husband nodded in agreement then they drove to the forest, when they arrived they burnt her. Back at the palace the queen mother was begging her husband and uncles not to kill her and promised to change but they would not hear it. “You killed your grandchildren like you were killing animals and you will be killed that way too.” Her uncle said.

I had been dismantling every success he built with a shipment delay here, a supplier bought there or a trusted employee turned against him somewhere else. Every victory he had celebrated had eventually become another opportunity for me to remind him I was still there but none of those games compared to this because none of those victories had a heartbeat. June did and that fucker Rick had no idea what he had thrown away. I’ve never wanted something as much as I want this woman in front of me. The poor fool had taken a woman capable of standing beside billionaires and surgeons alike and locked her inside a house, he had turned a precision machine into a housewife. What a spectacular waste.

“I’d never have done that if I knew he was taken. He didn’t pull away.” He didn't respond. That was enough rejection from him, but I wasn't about to tell her that. She scoffed, her friendly mask slipping off. “You’re just as I remembered. Not even amnesia can change you. I’m pretty sure everything your poor husband said he endured from you was true, you’re exactly the insufferable woman he described.”

No one will say she was merely impregnated by a notorious mafia lord. Because I am that lord. And she is not a victim. She is the Queen I kneel for. I will protect her. I will cherish her. I will guard her with my life. And I will keep her for the rest of my days, because she is my heaven in the middle of hell, my redemption, my reason to stay alive. My wife. My forever. The End~~~

“As if you are not.” “It’s time to change partners,” she added. She was trying badly to avoid me. I didn’t listen. Instead, I moved us away from the dance floor. She frowned and pushed me away. I wondered where she got her strength from. She looked like she badly wanted to punch me. “I don’t know what is between you and Charles, but don’t dare involve me, Alaric. I am not your wife anymore. Don’t forget that.” I held her tightly. “The cake…”

“I came here tonight because I thought I could talk to her. Apologize. Try to make things right. Instead, I walk in and see you destroying her in front of everyone.” Violet stepped closer, reaching for my arm. “Jason, listen to me. She’s the problem. She always has been. If she’s out of the picture, we can finally…” I jerked my arm away. “Stop.” My voice rose for the first time. “Stop talking about her like she’s the enemy. She was my wife. I treated her like shit. I ignored her. I compared her to Isabelle every single day. That was on me. Not her. And instead of letting her heal, you decided to tear her down even more.”

“Queen Elaine would not remain. She was too shifty for her own good. Too tied to visions, to guilt, to loyalties she would not speak clearly. But our King and his dragon had fallen helplessly in love with her.” His jaw tightened. “And she burned him for it.” The words hit the room hard. I sat very still.

Ink met paper without hesitation. Five years ago she had signed papers as a wife trying to preserve a marriage. Today she signed as a mother ensuring survival. Upstairs, Silas slept peacefully, sunlight brushing across his blankets. Recovery had returned color to his cheeks, though fatigue still lingered in his small movements. Evelyn paused at the doorway. For a moment, the Queen disappeared. Only a mother remained. She watched his steady breathing and remembered smoke filling her lungs, remembered the certainty she would never see him grow.

Through it all, Ethan remained my steady anchor… attending board events, supporting Mia’s performances, and building a love that felt both passionate and profoundly safe. One quiet evening, as winter approached, I stood alone on the terrace for a moment. The wind carried a chill, but I felt only warmth. I thought of the woman I had been… cooking breakfast before dawn, shrinking to keep peace, hiding an empire to chase a love that was never real. That woman was gone. In her place stood someone who knew her worth, protected her peace, cherished her daughter, opened her heart carefully, and built a legacy that mattered. I smiled into the night, breathing deeply.

I said softly. “You already have,” Randall replied. And in that quiet moment, I felt it—power. Not the inheritance of blood, but the kind forged in fire, earned through sacrifice and bloodshed. The smoke of the past still clung to me, but I understood now: the fire didn’t just mark me. It made me. I was no longer the girl who left the wreckage behind. I was the woman who had risen from the ashes, ready to burn everything that threatened to cage her. The Queen had returned.
