Slowly, from the darkness of the woods, two humans came out walking with nothing in their hands but guns. I don’t know how they use that tool, but I have read in my books that people from Earth mostly use that from killing. I admit I am afraid, and it’s frustrating because I used to be the reason of someone else’s fear. But at the same time, I’m relieved since I think heavens heard again my prayers. I will die! “What a beautiful horse it is.” I shivered upon hearing the lady’s voice and the language she just used. It’s Audravan, the language of Audravarians! Galing ba kami sa iisang mundo?

“Absolutely wrong. The less you know, the more likely you'll survive. Your involvement will be minimal, Callie. The human world is what I must focus on, not my own.” I glared at him. “The place you took me last night- the Border. You said it was the ‘border between worlds.’ What worlds?” Amusement flickered across his face. “What worlds do you think I meant?” I stared out the window, looking at the slice of blue sky beyond. “I have no idea… that place was weird. Unearthly, yet so like Earth. Almost as if…” “It wasn’t of this realm?” he suggested.

Time seemed to slow down, the rest of the world falling away until there was only this—only him, only her, only the space between them that felt impossibly small and impossibly vast all at once. His eyes searched hers one more time, asking a silent question, giving her time to pull away if she wanted to. She didn’t want to. Every fiber of her being was screaming at her to close the distance, to feel what it would be like to kiss him, to cross a line she knew once crossed couldn’t be uncrossed.

Hatred. "Let's get a divorce."

I chuckled, “Okay fine I promise.” We connected our pink fingers together for a few seconds and pulled away. But we all knew promises were meant to be broken.

Just us against the world. And that would be enough.
