When I think of the mafia, I imagine a pierced tattooed guy with guns in every pocket and a horrible mean face but Theodore was the exact opposite. He wore a crisp black suit completed with a perfectly folded handkerchief in his pocket. His hairs were perfectly trimmed and he appeared like a proper gentleman. His face was calm and he was actually smiling at me. Hadn't I know what he was capable of, I would have never believed him to be someone with the inane disregard of human life. Theodore managed a smile at the lady who was scowling at Abel’s retreating back, “I think he’s in some sort of a hurry.” Dorothy’s face cleared quickly, her features arranging into a deeply understanding smile, “Oh, of course! I know what Abel’s like! The boy is just very... unfiltered and straight forward.” She laughed a soft laugh, “I like that boy!” Theodore maintained a polite smile in response. Professor Hagglin excused herself before leaving. She had always confused Theodore. When he’d first shifted to teach at the University, she had been everything but pleasant to him from what he could remember.

But sitting beside Baxter, it was the best impulsive decision I had ever had. “He is, Theodore, even though he has this hard exterior around others and he may not like me to say this, but he isn’t like that around me. He is truly like no other person I have ever met in the best way possible; it’s early days with us but I truly believe he is someone who will be around me for such a long time… perhaps forever.” I began to say simply allowing all of the words to spill from my mouth without allowing my brain to process and tell me to stop, my eyes looking right at Theodore and not Baxter, with what I was saying, I don’t know if I could look him in the eyes.

I spun around to find Valerian’s decent yet laid-back older brother, Theodore, leaning casually against the counter. He was dressed in a dark gray suit and black tie, his whole vibe screaming calmness and effortless charm—unlike Valerian's color scheme on a daily basis. Theo looked like the type who could host a TED Talk on "Chill Vibes Only" while rocking the same monotone wardrobe every day. The meeting must’ve been dismissed. Now he’s probably looking for someone to bless with unsolicited commentary.
