he yelled from behind me as I went up the stairs. I entered my room, closed the door shut immediately, and sighed heavily. My heart was beating so fast that I couldn't even recognise if I was still me. Why does my heartbeat keep increasing anytime I am in a tense or silent situation with Adrian? This is certainly not love. But then, what is it?

“I think you, out of everyone in the world, need one person who can show you how to love again.” “And you think your cousin could do that for me?” she asked as she watched him as he thought about her question. The simple question was more than he had thought it would be. He knew it was two-sided at best. “I think my cousin could help you. I don’t know if it would be the key or not. I do think that he would help open your heart again in a way I don’t think anyone else can. You had someone like him before, so you understand.” Garrett said. “He is alone now. He needs help in life and people to love him back. For you, it may help both of you.”

As if a switch had been flipped, the normal sounds were replaced by a roar in his head like a giant waterfall. He felt an icy chill skitter down his spine followed almost immediately by a burning rage in the pit of his stomach. He forced himself to look at the monitor again. There was no mistake. It was him. Ever since this morning, my heartbeat hasn’t settled properly. It keeps skipping strangely, hard enough to make me stop breathing sometimes. At first, I thought maybe it had something to do with fainting earlier.

And at that exact moment something strange happened. The rhythm skipped slightly. Just once. Adrian felt it immediately. He narrowed his eyes. Then the heartbeat returned back to normal. Steady…perfect Adrian slowly placed his hand over his chest. A weird thought crossed his mind. Somewhere out there was a living life connected to this heart. And for some reason he felt that he was connected to that life. Anna waited at the examination room for the doctor. She placed her hand on her chest. The weird sound had not returned again.

~*JUNE*~ What the fuck is wrong with my heart? Why can’t it stop beating so damn fast? Ever since I left Mr. Macaulay’s office, it’s been pounding against my ribs like it’s trying to break free. Each beat slams through my chest like a freight train barreling downhill, completely out of control, with no brakes and absolutely no signs of slowing the hell down. I swear to God, I’m starting to think I’m about to have a heart attack.
