My heart started to thump hard. Thud. Thud. Thud. The serious tone of his voice made it happen and right now, I think I might faint.

My breathing slows, one shaky inhale at a time, until the room stops spinning quite so violently. I tried to sit up. Pain sliced through my ribs like glass grinding against my bones. A sharp sound rips from my throat before I can stop it. My heart stuttered wildly in my chest— skipping, surging, misfiring in a rhythm that feels alien inside me. I froze, terror blooming cold in my gut.

THUMP THUMP THUMP I could hear my heart beat so strongly that it felt like my ear drums were about to burst. I subtly clench my fist over my chest in a desperate attempt to stop the palpitations as it felt like my heart was giving way. If felt like if I was not careful, my heart may very well jump out of no of my chest. That was just how powerful my heart was beating against the walls of my rib cage.

I take rasp short breaths at a time trying to stop the pain. Another knock sounds. "Reece .. Come on, open the door".

I felt a lump form in my throat as I whispered their names, my voice barely audible over the whispers that still swirled around me. I tried to gasp for air, but it felt like an invisible hand was wrapped around my throat, squeezing tight. I struggled to sit up, but my body felt heavy, pinned to the bed. Panic set in as I realized I was completely helpless. The whispers had stopped, replaced by an eerie silence. I was alone, and I was running out of air. Just as I thought I was going to pass out, the pressure on my throat eased, and I could breathe again. I lay there, gasping for air, wondering what was happening to me.

The back of my throat began to feel too hot and it was almost impossible to breathe. “Aren't you tired of doing sketches of me?” my voice didn't sound like mine. I sounded way too breathless. Maybe it was because of the way my heart was beating frantically. I always tend to do that whenever I am around him. My body reacted in so many ways that I could barely comprehend. It either left me speechless, breathless or left me thinking that my heart was going to stop beating.
