Thomas stated plainly, pulling a sharp inhale of shock from me. He knew! Oh goddess, he found out. He had found out about my practicing magic, b- but, so what? Could it be that Thomas knew magic? But when they raised the guns, Thomas bowed to pick up a few stones from the floor. He indifferently said, “Napoleon Bonaparte. Don’t you know him?” “Who?” James and his people looked confused. Thomas helplessly shook his head. “Study more if you’re free. I really can’t communicate with this group of stupid people.” Phew! A few stones were shot out. The stones were thrown at the people’s hands, and in an instant, their hands became handicapped. They could not even hold their guns properly, let alone fire a shot.

She was sleeping peacefully and that was enough comfort to me. Knowing that she was not out in the wild or in some magic garden or with a certain pack, prone to harm and abuse was good enough comfort for me as I returned to the magic book which I had long discarded on the table. It still had the page I had opened to and it was glaring at me as I reached the book. I sat on the chair and took a good look at the details the page contained. It contained directions on how to tame the magic of the itinerant gypsy pack!

I again made my way inside the library and sat behind my desk waiting for this important secret. Thomas waved his hands and an old leather bound book fell on my desk. It opened on its own and I wasted no time reading the faded black lettering inside. The first page told of a way to neutralize a winter faerie’s magic. I looked up surprised at Thomas who was grinning from ear to ear. He made the book disappear again and with his blue eyes twinkling said,” Now you know what to do my king.”

Sitting back heavily and clearly disappointed. “Thomas!” I growled. “ what did you find?” “Ya so there’s hundreds of old ass books in there.” He waved the now half eaten jerky like a wand in the direction he came from. “And I found all these journals.” I began rubbing my index fingers around my temples. Thomas is a good soldier but I have no idea how Aiden puts up with his rambling. “This one…” he said flipping the journal open on the table in front of us, “Miss Evens talks about living in some creepy mansion 500 years ago!”

“I, for one, am quite bored of Trundling Hoop and Roll, after playing it for so many years.” “Uh…” Martha’s gaze switched between Emiline and Henry a few times before she shrugged. “I think that is a splendid idea, Mr. Crampton.” Relief washed over Gabe, knowing that his uncle and aunt were not going to cause a scene—although Rebecca just might. This book might be the key to mastering my gifts, to unlocking the secrets of my magic and understanding my past.
