I tried to keep my voice casual. “Don’t know yet.” Before I could ask more, I saw someone approaching. A tall male with auburn hair like Tova’s. Dark circles under his eyes like he hadn’t slept in days. Dirt on his clothes. Thor. Tova’s twin brother. He barely glanced at me. “—compensate me with five girls,” Thor was saying. “Five hot girls. One per night.” Jax laughed. “I’m not in that business anymore.” “Since when?”

I swung, knocking him into the wall, claws raking across his chest, leaving deep gashes. Finally, the last of them hesitated, stepping back, panting, bloodied, eyes wide with fear. Their wolves growled nervously, sensing the predators they faced. I exhaled, slowly, muscles tight, every nerve humming. Thor dropped the last rogue with a final strike, standing tall beside me, eyes gleaming, chest heaving. And there he was—Jaxon. Standing in the open, arms crossed, chest rising and falling evenly. Hands empty. Calm. Unshaken.

~Third person~ “Well said, Alex,” Thor, Alex’s wolf, praised him. He looked Grace up and down possessively, taking in every curve, crease, and line on her body “Liam isn’t worthy of such a beautiful woman,” Thor growled, fuming that Liam’s hand was wrapped around her waist. Alex showed no change in emotion. “I simply wanted to embarrass that idiot, Liam.” Thor chuckled darkly. “You’re not dark and mysterious to me, Alex,” Thor responded, shaking his head. “Maybe you forget that. I know you, and I know how you feel.”

My thumb moved from memory. I typed one letter. D. I hit send. I put the phone down and watched. Elara was shaking her head, trying to go around him. He put a hand on her arm.That was it. The touch. A shadow moved from a doorway across the street. Dante. He moved like smoke, he’s fast and quiet. He was big, but he made no sound. The dealer was focused on Elara, and didn't see him coming. Dante's hand clamped on the dealer's shoulder. The man turn towards his direction , his smile fading into confusion.

Analyzing those papers he read it carefully without blinking his eyes. In an instant he expressed " Ooh Mahh freak, you're pregnant " Waving the reports in the air, he beamed "you're pregnant for real koushy " I was awestruck for a minute, is this man even real? I'm here shading blood tears because of his betrayal and he's having the time of his life? Why is he like this?

Yet they still focused on the task at hand. After about 2 minutes of continuously pummeling her father into the ground, Thrud’s anger was sated. It was hard to believe that the one known as Alexis across the myriad of realms, who was famed for using her brain to solve most of her problems, could become this violent. “You were really heavy handed,” Thor touched his bruised face and said. One of his eyes was blackened entirely, and his lips had several cuts on them. However, his armor lit up as several strange runes engulfed him, and in less than a few seconds, all these wounds disappeared.

Then he unsheathed his weapon, a sword unlike any I’d seen before. Its steel was dark, almost black, and from its blade coiled tendrils of smoke, inky and alive, as though it breathed, enchanted, surely. I didn’t know if the others saw what I did, but to my eyes, it pulsed with a forbidden magic. The duel began. Alpha Thorne attacked first, striking with the fury of a pack leader defending his people. His movements were sharp. But Xareth barely lifted his blade. He sidestepped each strike with effortless grace, like a predator toying with prey. His expression never changed, very calm. And that calm was more terrifying than rage.

I had thought I was getting used to torture, but each hit from Xavier seemed so different and powerful that I wondered if he was a werewolf.
