The Mirabella library was steeped in a rich aroma of well-worn leather and hidden mysteries, its ancient shelves lined with tomes that whispered secrets of ages past. Autumn paced restlessly before the grand hearth, the flickering flames casting dancing shadows across her features, illuminating the pages of the Book of the Veilwalker. The sigil emblazoned in silver on the open page pulsed gently with a faint light, almost as if it were alive, its allure anchoring her attention like a siren's call.

"Alright... what am I supposed to get?" Conor’s grin stretched wide. "That's my girl." He flipped open the old, worn-out book in front of us, turning the pages until he stopped at a symbol etched in thick, black ink. It was a large, dark ring with two triangles meeting at the top in a straight line. Inside the circle, two more triangles—sharp, like a wolf's canines—flanked either side of the line. The image stirred something in me. It felt oddly familiar.

“I hate how perfect this is. My brand is ruined.” A few feet away, Keyu was leafing through a book with a bewildered expression. Small, handwritten notes were tucked into every other page, the margins blooming with ink. “You actually annotated this?” he asked, his thumb tracing a line of Astrella’s handwriting. “Consider it a limited edition,” she said, her tone light but her gaze lingering. “Don’t get used to the effort.” A loud, booming laugh erupted from Fabio. He held up a sweater that was so aggressively festive, complete with a light-up reindeer, it practically hurt to look at. “Is this a declaration of war, Astrella?”

She had to listen to him without looking at him. “I would, except I don’t know where the beginning really is.” He chuckled. “Have you heard the term star dust?” “Yes,” Kristen replied as she looked up and could see him there with her, but it was like he wasn’t right there in front of her either. “Aren’t we all made up of star dust?” “No.” He replied. “Some of us are more than just that.” “I don’t understand.” She replied as she looked back at the picture in her lap. “Why do I feel so different with this one picture?”

The triangles he found contained dots, circles, even more triangles, but nothing that matched. Minutes later, Mike called Tink over to the shelf in between a pair of windows. Near the top of the shelves was an identical triangle carved into the wood. The books on the shelf were in disarray - clearly more than one was missing, and it was obvious that several of them had been casually placed. "Now what?" Tink asked, handing Mike the book. She was too short to reach the top shelf without her ladder. "If video games have taught me anything, I know exactly what to do." Jake was trembling with the entire of his back drenched with sweat, his t-shirt clasping back into his skin. What the fuck! He was still gasping for breath from hyperventilation when he noticed something under the skeleton's hand. A book? He crawled towards the skeleton whose empty orbits were looking up at him, reminding him about the skull Cole had tossed at him except this was real! He slowly pulled the book from underneath the skeleton and turned it over. There was not much on it except for the fact that it was pretty old and heavy, with a symbol on top of it. He had seen that particular symbol many times before. A five-pointed star-the Pentagram. It had fine golden edges.

When my vision became clear, my eyes adjusted to look at the object very carefully. It was a small leather book. Although I didn't know the contents, I could make out a star-shaped symbol embedded on its forefront. Two inverted triangles were placed on top of each other, forming what seemed to look like a star. Inside of both triangles revealed a large eye, watching as though it sees deep into the soul.
