Man, what a happy past . "Mirchan? What are you thinking?" Mikey asked me. "Nothing. Just a happy memory of mine." I answer him. He eats taiyaki here at the shrine. "You? What are you thinking?" "Hm? Oh .. I'm thinking about her." Mikey replied. "Man, who? Which of the two?" I asked him. "Her." he replied. I gasped. Jeez, can't believe he's not yet over with Yen.

I smiled, sat on the chair, and reminisced about my time with Mikey. I will tell y’all. It was the best, it felt unreal, because why would Mikey agree to be with someone like me? He is literally everything any woman would, but I saw what he didn't see in himself. He also loved men, but he kept trying to deny it. He liked men a lot, a bit more than he loves women, but he needed some help to believe and live it, so I did that, and my time with him was the best. But, one thing is even though Mikey and I were together he had a crush on Douglas Caden! He has always loved that guy! He was his lawyer and his family’s lawyer too, so I didn't realise, till it was so late.

The fragile peace they’d been living in for the past week and a half felt like thin ice—beautiful on the surface, but ready to crack with one wrong step. “Yo, boss lady,” Mikey called from across the bay, his voice cracking with that awkward teenage enthusiasm. The nineteen-year-old prospect was sprawled dramatically across a workbench, pretending to fan himself with an oily rag. “If you keep making these bikes sound like angry demons, I’m gonna start thinking you sold your soul to the devil. Or worse—Reaper’s dick.”

I kept the postcard in my bag. I can't wait for him to have a sibling. I'm six months along yet again and up for a very long vacation. He is already looking forward to it. "But his a prisoner here at the Shadow pack camp." Mikey's face dropped. "What?" I felt tears form in my eyes. "They've hurt him and - and they're torturing him, Mikey. I - I don't know what to do." Mikey suddenly got a serious look on his face. "You're at the Shadow pack camp? How? Where's Raphael?" I sucked in a deep breath to compose myself as I explained everything that happened up to this point. Mikey listened quietly. I had never seen him so serious.

The others nodded in agreement, and I couldn’t help but chuckle along with them. “Also, sorry we haven’t properly introduced ourselves yet, Eli,” Mikey said, his tone shifting to something more genuine. He smiled at me, and for the first time, I felt like I wasn’t just Zack’s little sister tagging along. I waved my hands in front of me, shaking my head. “It’s no big deal,” I said, smiling back at him. “Well, I’m Mikey, and that’s Austin,” he pointed to the guy who had kicked Zack, “and James,” he said, motioning toward the quieter boy standing beside him. James gave me a small nod, not much for words, it seemed.

As she slumped on the sink recovering, she looked at her reflection in the mirror and thought about the conversation she was having with Aldo, the words that she almost said. It seemed that for a moment she forgot that she had been kidnapped and up until now she had been scheming to escape. ‘Snap out of it, Sarah. He is a criminal. Quit thinking that you love him. You can’t love someone involved with the mafia, talking less of a Don. They kill people. He is brainwashing you. Open your eyes.’ She told herself. She made her mind up, she had to leave before his promises of undying love corrupted her thinking any further.

“We won’t talk about him.” “Thank you.” “How about we take a walk?” I suggested and she agreed. “A walk sounds perfect.” Maya headed to the kitchen to inform her aunt that we were going outside to take a walk. Her aunt smiled at me from the kitchen and gave us her blessing. She has always been a fan of mine, even when Maya and I were kids. She always said I was one of the good ones. I wondered what she would think if she found out about the murderous thoughts I harbored for Micah, especially after I had witnessed him bullying my mate next to the lockers at crystal high. It had taken everything in me not to rip his fucking throat out.

The football team fists bump Mikey and it’s so much I could do to try to squeeze my tiny, 160-centimeter frame through the horde of broad-shouldered lackeys surrounding him and Becca, the new ‘It’ couple, it seems. Mikey is a hammerhead football player who’s dumber than a box of screws but I guess Becca doesn’t like him for his philosophical views on things. He is ginormous compared to his teammates, with broad shoulders and arms thicker than my thighs. He's also really handsome, in that rugged manly-man type of way. Not my type but I can still see the appeal... if he doesn’t open his mouth that is.

Mikey, a fellow doctor said to me for the umpteenth time the next afternoon. Michael, who liked to be called Mikey is an intern. He joined the hospital last year and since then we clicked. Funny enough, he had a rather cold attitude towards everyone else except me. No, he did not have romantic feelings for me. He had repeatedly said he liked me because we look alike, which was very true as we had similar facial features. In fact, the first day I saw him I was kind of shocked because of how similar we looked. The major difference between us is the color of our eyes and stature. Since then he has become like a younger brother to me because he reminds me of someone dear to me.
