I stared at the screen not paying it much attention. Instead, my mind was hyper-focused on what had just happened. Was I reading into this too much? Probably. Zack was a very loyal guy so it was probably just a friendly peck on the head. Yeah, that's what it was, a friendly kiss on the head given to me by my best and only friend. My best friend, damn my life. You can say that again.

I hold his hand and make sure that he can remember how he made me feel delighted to have him by my side, as a friend. "You're my closest friend and I am grateful to you because even though I don't have many friends, I felt happiness like I have countless friends. You are really my best friend. You're the best of best friends!" we both laugh with the warmth in our eyes. He's really my best friend. "When I thought for a long time last night, I realized that there's things that we sometimes do that can't be reasoned out. Maybe worse or good, but the important thing is that we should wake up and be true to ourselves." I patted his shoulders, comforting him.

Will, he going to kiss her? "Athalia. You're here!" Charles called Athalia. He approached them. "Hi, I'm Charles. Athalia's new friend." He held out his right hand to Luke. Luke accepted Charles' handshake. "I'm Luke, Athalia's Best Friend since childhood." Luke introduces himself to Charles. She was surprised by what he said. Best friend? Did she hear it right? Or maybe, he just said that because Charles introduced himself as her friend. It hurt her to think that. She looked at him. He seemed serious about the words he uttered.

Finally I sat back up, and looked around at all of them. “Guys!” I called out, and they instantly quieted. “Yes please Chastity. Save me from the dramatics.” Marcus grumbled, and I giggled. “Here is how it is. You are all equally my best friends. No one is more important, or less important than the other. You all are special to me in different ways, and I love all of you the same. Ok? Does that make everyone happy?” I said looking at Molly, Melissa, Lexi, and Norm.

Relief floods through me as I quickly answer the call. "We need to talk," she says, her voice firm and urgent. I exhale shakily, wiping away the remnants of my tears. "Yeah. We do." Because right now, the only people I can trust—the only people I can truly lean on—are my best friends. And I need them now more than ever.

The message read, Dear Christina, You’re the best friend that I’ve ever had, and the best friend that anyone would ever hope to have. You brought happiness into my life at a time when I was in despair and thought that I would never ever see even a glimpse of happiness, and for that, I will be eternally grateful. You tried your best to help me out of that horrific place I called home, and I do not take that for granted. I’ve tried as much as I can to bear the situation at home, but it gets worse by the day, so I’ve decided to run away.
