A Sketch Away From Perfect
It smells like creation, like possibility, like everything this studio was meant to be.
Scott has hummed softly while he works. His sleeves are rolled up, forearms dusted with fine wood shavings, and every so often, I’ve caught myself staring, my heart tumbling over itself like a lovesick idiot.
The whole time, Milo has pranced around between us, his tiny teeth clamped around a squeaky giraffe. Every time the toy squeals, Scott winces, and I can’t help but laugh.
“I swear, he’s trying to kill me with noise,” he complained on one occasion, though he bent down to scratch his floppy ears as he said it.
