I see mum being wheeled into an ambulance in a stretcher and scream. “Shawty.” I feel someone shaking me. “No. It can’t be.” I shake them off me. “Wake up Tomboy.” I’m shaken hard and when I open my eyes, Stone is staring down at me. I look around and shut my eyes. I am in a bus and I drifted to sleep. Stone is here. How did he get here? “You good?” his voice makes me open my eyes again. “Yap. A bad dream.” I rub my eyes and look outside.

It was spotless white and dark midnight blue. “No bedrooms?” I smirked back at him as I ran my hands over the cool white marble worktops. “This way,” he gestured. I followed him down a small hallway past what looked to be his home office and there were several more doors off the hallway in both directions. He started with the furthest door away at the end of the hall. He opened the door onto a large floor to ceiling tiled bathroom. A large white bathtub at the end and a large walk-in shower to the right. On the left were the toilet and sink. He opened the cupboard under the sink and pulled out a toothbrush with a smile.

The moment the door was about to close, seeing the image of Hana soaring into the sky, Henry's heart suddenly burst with joy. Mr. O.Renci patted Tom on the shoulder, "Thank you, Tom. Remember to prepare well for the final exam this year; the EVEN realm is waiting for you." As an affirmation Mr. O.Renci gave Tom, Tom's gaze was fleetingly confused. For the first time, Tom had a feeling he was a thief. It was also the first time Tom had looked Directly into Hana's eyes and was fascinated by it. ​"Show me." ​She guided him to a curtained cubicle. Inside, a middle-aged man sat on the edge of the gurney, holding a bloody piece of gauze to his forehead while a nurse prepped a suture kit. He looked up, his eyes widening in a mix of pain and intimidation as Henri entered the small space. ​Henri looked down at him. There was no pity in his gaze—only a cold, calculating assessment. "You must be Tom." ​"Yeah," he croaked, looking at Elizabeth. "Lizzie, who is this?"

Maybe being in his space would help me feel closer to him, or maybe I'd find some clue about why the Steel Vultures had targeted him.
