“I see you’ve grown strong,” he muttered, breathing heavily, circling again. “But strength means nothing when you fight alone.”
“I’m not alone,” I snapped, golden light flickering around my fists. “This pack stands behind me. *My mate* stands behind me. And even if I fall, they will rise.”
Matteo’s eyes flared red. “Then I’ll make them fall with you.”
He charged again—fast, feral, unhinged.
We clashed in the clearing. Trees split apart, roots tore from the earth. Every strike between us was like thunder. I ducked under his blade, landed a solid punch to his ribs, then caught his leg and flung him across the battlefield.
