Garcia exhales slowly, patiently. “No. I have a man deep undercover. He’s been embedded for years.”
His gaze travels — Logan, Uncle John, my dad — before settling on Jackson.
Years. That word pings something uneasy in my gut. Again, the thought flickers — what aren’t they telling us?
“This D guy’s obsession with Mel isn’t healthy,” Jackson says quietly. Diversion. The boy might piss me off and work on my nerves, but he is sharp. And secretive.
