Lira said, scanning the endless shelves, “there’s a volume called ‘Divine Inversions.’ It’s one of the oldest texts on corrupted bindings. Half myth, half manual. I haven’t read it yet; the last archivist sealed it after the war of the twin gods. Thanks to Wendrah we have it here. But if the seal’s still intact, it might hold something useful.”
Kael grunted. “So we’re chasing ghost stories now.”
“If those ghosts keep you breathing,” Lira snapped, “then yes.”
I stepped toward the door. “Get it. Whatever it takes. Bring it to Rayna’s study. Not here.”
Rayna’s brow arched. “You’re moving me from the library?”
“Until I know every inch of this place is secure, yes.” I glanced toward the high wind
