But he slipped into something practiced instead. “She tripped,” he said, calm, steady. “I was holding her up.” Adrian’s eyes snapped to me, searching. I forced a shaky laugh, hand over my chest. “He’s right. I tripped on the floor. If he hadn’t caught me, I’d have been flat on the floor. You should’ve seen me. Graceful as ever.” Adrian’s mouth twitched, caught between a smile and relief. “You scared me. For a second I thought…” He shook his head. “Never mind. I believe you.”

" I couldn't believe that even after I'd spelled everything out so clearly, Roxanne still thought I was just jealous and sulking. I furrowed my brow and replied evenly, "I'm not making the call. If you want to help him, you'll have to do it yourself." Roxanne was about to lose her temper when my phone rang. It was Mr. Miller, and he called to ask how the preparations were going. I told him I'd been injured in an accident and might have to postpone my departure by a week. After expressing his concern, he ended the call. "You've arranged everything? You even booked the plane ticket?" Roxanne asked while staring at me in shock. There was a tremor in her voice, and beneath it, a trace of fear.

“Not with you.” He exhaled, and for a brief moment, the tension between us shifted—from fear to something else entirely. His hand brushed against mine again, lingering just a fraction too long, and I knew he felt it too—the pull, the desire, the temptation of being pressed together in the dark, trapped and electric. Then the intruder spoke, voice cold and deliberate: “Well, well… what do we have here?” Jace’s eyes narrowed, protective and dangerous all at once. “Aria, move!” he snapped.

And now I was supposed to hope that this one would be different. I sighed and leaned back against the edge of the tub. The thought of leaving the bath and facing the world made my chest tighten. “El! I left your coffee on the counter. You better hurry, or you’ll miss your chance!” Anna’s cheerful voice floated from the door. I groaned, letting the warmth soak me a little longer. “I don’t know if I can, Anna… I’ve tried so many times. I’m tired of failing.” She pushed the door, towel over her shoulder. “Elara, listen. You’ve made it to the final stage for a reason. You haven't made it this far in a while which means they think you are qualified.

The current was turbulent, and the ground was slippery so loosing my concentration would result in something unimaginably bad. After about five minutes of careful navigation through the flood with my feet, we crossed the brook. I lowered her to the ground. And just when she stood on her feet, she creamed; “Crabs, crabs!” I looked at where she pointed the light to, and there, on the muddy ground, I saw two crabs that held on tightly to each other with their pincers.

Greco took a picture of them together on the rock peak. After that, Vale helped her going down. Her eyes widened when she witnessed a lady tourist stumbled when her foot glided. She suddenly felt Vale’s brawny arms on her hips and pulled her closer. “Let’s not go there.” Vale shook his head. His hands traveled down and held hers. He gently guided her to a more stable trail going down while Greco was behind, pointing directions.

Ariadne finds her in less than an hour. She’s at her clinic, not even remotely surprised as Ariadne breaks through the front doors, pointing a gun at her. “D-Don’t come any closer.” Ariadne growls, watching a tremor run through her adversary. There’s no question in her. She’s going to help her, or Ariadne’s going to kill her. “Y-You think I’m afraid of you?” Ariadne knows she is. She can smell it. “This is all your fault,” Tracey screams. “If you’d protected her, then I wouldn’t have had to do what I did. I never wanted to be in Pack politics. All I ever wanted was to be happy with Lisa.”

She really didn't want to look at their affectionate scene that would drive her crazy. The sun was shining outside. The spring breeze was blowing, and the weather was just right. It was neither hot nor cold. Jenna wore a light green dress for such weather. Zoey dragged Hansen's hand with excitement while Jenna quietly followed behind.
