She could still hear Roman's conversation with the creepy man inside her head, wailing with a warning. Mia doesn't know whether to be disappointed or not. Fortunately, the creepy man is nowhere to be seen. Roman brings her to a shabby-looking resto-bar where he and his band play. It sounded like a joke when he first told her that but now, seeing him play the bass guitar with only music in his mind, he looks like just another normal twenty-two-year-old guy. Not someone owning a hidden gun and having whispered exchanges about a dead girl.

Clement said, shaking his head in disappointed. "Think about it, so we're doing this thing because of them!" Trist's reminder. "It's your choice!" Clement was serious. Then it quickly left Trist's office. Annoyed Trist tore apart the files that lay on top of his desk, causing them to fall to the floor. Then he put both elbows on the desk and folded his fingers. Trist just nodded and burst into tears because his feelings were mixed right now; annoyed, his heart pounding because of what he had found out about Clement.

He truly felt disgusted and broken remaining in this city, breathing beneath the same sky as the woman who had trampled all over his pride. Tristan was already heartbroken beyond measure. The trust, the first touch, and the warmth he had sincerely given aboard that hot-air balloon now felt like the most disgusting joke he had ever experienced in his life.

He stopped in front of her, his throat tight. “I’m sorry,” he choked out, the words tumbling over each other. “I was wrong, Grace. It was all my fault. I shouldn’t have trusted Maria, I shouldn’t have ignored you, and I should never have let you and Leo get hurt. Please, come back. I’ll never make the same mistake again, I swear…” He shattered his own pride, standing before her like a criminal awaiting his sentence. But Grace just looked at him, her gaze falling to the fading mate mark on his arm.
