His howl cracked into sobs. Lily flicked her tail once, dismissing him. “We don’t need his regret,” I whispered, turning my back. “Not anymore.” The sound of Jacob cursing Jasper followed me as I walked away. I shut him out. I refused to hear another useless word. The next morning, over in Shadowfang, the shiny new life had already started to show cracks. Amelia was all smiles at breakfast, greeting Jasper with her perfect voice, like sugar wrapped around steel. But Jasper didn’t smile back. Something was missing.

So, he wasted no time in asking the Alpha King for help to dissolve and break the mate bond he'd formed with Velma. Velma and Layla were a mess on the day they were both kicked out of their home. Eric stood in the garden that was now filled with lavender. His eyes turned red all of a sudden, and his nose tingled. The swing that was torn down could be put up again, but some wolves would never come back after they'd left. Over the last few days, Jason had tried everything he could to try and contact Avril. However, each time she picked up, she would remain silent as soon as she heard their voices and hang up.

My eyes never left the human. “This creature,” I said coldly, pointing at her, “managed to calm the beast last night.” Bella's head snapped up in surprise. “I didn't,” “Silence.” My voice cut through the air like a blade. She shut her mouth instantly. The priestess leaned forward slightly. “Interesting.” My fingers tapped against the table. “I want to know why.” The priestess nodded once. “Bring her closer.” The matron grabbed Bella's arm and dragged her forward.

“I want that castle cleaned out of all witches and vampires. No exceptions!” Relieved that he’d gone undetected, Jasper stepped away from the wall. They’d walked far enough past him that he’d have to use his supernatural hearing to continue to monitor their conversation. He chose to slip into the lab instead. He’d heard enough to know that he needed to act swiftly and get to Lila before the wolves did.

Bensons POV As soon as Jake dealt with the two lust raged wolves Sid ran off, he managed to keep one wolf away from Angel but had a really hard time trying to keep Tan for acting on his own instincts. Jake took Angel up to their room and knowing what was happening they would be unavailable for the next few days. Alice had shifted back but had fallen unconscious due to the blood loss from the shard of vase protruding from her side. Picking her up I got her in the car and breaking every roads speed limit got her to the hospital.

Jasper repeats in the same tone, but I see that he's annoyed too, somehow. My chest narrows, and I crunch my lips, noticing that, suddenly, Alice has forgotten about my presence and Lily's. This shouldn't cause me any conflicting feelings. Still, I feel my heart hammering painfully. “Well, it doesn't matter, you'll get tired of that one pretty easily… we both know that… And when that happens, I'll welcome you quite warmly, whenever you want.” Alice smiles at Jasper, as if there's sunshine on her lips. My stomach twists and squirms as I watch her turn her back with her friends and quickly disappear down the hallway.

For now. I stumbled back and swallowed. I bit hard on my lips and held Bella tighter, Jared’s letter flashed before my eyes and I remembered it clearly said that Alice was looking for Bella. I could not help but wonder if Alexander knew this. Whether or not he was aware of that and if it had influenced his decision to bring her to me. I grabbed the closest long garment and tied Bella to my chest, they would only get her over my dead body, it took me a few seconds to catch my breath and make sense of everything that had just happened.

Author's POV Bella's focus was momentarily distracted when she saw two elderly people passing by—Jeremiah Stan and Alice Alsen. She frowned, surprised to see how close they seemed. Alice handed Jeremiah a box while wishing him a happy birthday, and the two embraced warmly. It was clear that their relationship was not just a day or two old. Bella rolled her eyes. She didn't like the fact that this probably meant she had once again lost out to Moira. "Miss Sanders? Are you daydreaming?" asked Rayden with a slight smile. He knew where Bella's attention had been focused earlier, and when she turned her attention back to Rayden, he lost interest in continuing the conversation.

Jackson Bella's plan had been a resounding failure. Just seeing the way Alice was ignoring the signs that I was trying to be romantic was laughable. I couldn't believe I was in this situation, but maybe that was what I was gaining by playing along with my sister. "She's going to love it, and she'll understand as soon as she sees it." That was what Bella had said, but there Alice and I stood in the greenhouse, feeling like the plan had blown up in my face in a way I didn't see coming. If my best friend were here, she'd be laughing her head off at my failed efforts.

Alice Pov "Congratulations, Alice! You are now a free citizen," Jana teasingly said to me with a smile as my grandmother left with Dindi and Dustin. Grandma Emilia was furious when she left. She didn't even give me a chance to explain to her. She quickly believed in what her eyes saw and Dindi already brainwashed her. In her anger, Grandma disowned me and stripped me of my inheritance in her company. I didn't bother to explain to her anymore because I could see the anger in her eyes, and I was sure that my clever cousin had already brainwashed her mind.
