He bent down to pick it up, and she seized the opportunity to lightly grab his hand in what we assumed was a thankful gesture. We watched, hearts pounding as they talked. Sharon's laughter rang out—a calculated move—but we couldn't make out what they were saying. A minute passed. Then two. Finally, he shook his head with a polite smile. What?! He resisted Sharon?! As she stormed back, looking absolutely mortified, she muttered, "Alright, two thousand bucks now. Whoever gets him to kiss them, it's doubled! Ava, your turn. Go!" I sighed. I wasn't sure if I wanted to win or just laugh at their attempts, but I loved a good bet—especially one that let me pocket some cash.
