And as if summoned by the word, figures emerged from the trees at the edge of the ridge; rogues cloaked in obsidian armor, they raised their weapons, all at once as the storm’s wind carried their voices in a chilling chorus: “Bring us the wolf-girl and give us the cursed blade.”
The Hollow Blade pulsed harder in Raven’s mind, feeding off their call, dragging her chest into a vise.
She staggered forward, clutching her ribs.
“Raven!” Axel caught her, but she shoved him back, panting.
