Half of me expects to see Mjollnir flying through the gymnasium windows, but of course, that would be cliché; it isn’t like this is a Marvel movie. The windows and the doors begin to shake fiercely as Hilda calls upon her forefathers to lend her the strength she needs to defeat me. I can see Miles out of my peripheral pacing back and forth; even the professor looks like she’s not sure what to do in this situation. Being a demigod, Hilda is one of the stronger students in this school, and if she loses control of her powers, it could be devastating. Ivy turned. Christopher walked in, casual, confident, hair a little messy, sleeves rolled up. He looked like someone who belonged here, someone who’d become part of the rhythm of their mornings without forcing it. Amusement tugged at his lips as he watched Aurelia and Elijah’s entire faces light up like someone had turned on a switch. Aurelia gasped softly and leaned toward her brother. “Chris is here. He will save us from preschool!” Christopher crossed his arms, eyebrows raised in playful accusation. “You see? They love me more than they love you.”

I kissed him enthusiastically, stroking his tongue with mine and getting excited when he kissed me with the same intensity. Instantly my previous discomfort was abandoned thanks to the man's mouth. "God, woman... You are dangerous." "I'm just helping you," he said patting my butt before starting to walk towards the children. I wanted to object something, but that sight wasn’t bad at all, so both of my hands went to his butt and stayed there.

An umbrella. I looked up. It was him. Christopher. We locked eyes. His jaw was tight, his expression unreadable. My breath caught in my throat. “Don’t get yourself a cold,” he said, voice low and cold, before walking off into the rain—leaving the umbrella with me. My heart raced. “Oh Chris…” I murmured to myself. “What have you done to me?” The rain was relentless, soaking through my dress, past my skin, right down to my bones. Still, I didn’t move—not until the cemetery was almost empty.

Rain pitter-pattered against his umbrella. Christopher chuckled, his gaze dark. "Don't come here again next time."

I am so screwed. Ten minutes later, I sit in the Academy's office with Headmistress Decan pacing back and forth behind her desk. She's wearing a bright blue dress and her brown hair in a loose bun. Her hands clench and unclench at her sides. In her heels and with me in the chair, she looks so much taller than she really is. We're both the same height usually. "Attacking fellow students," she mumbles, shaking her head. "Destroying school property including a leyline that's been here for thousands of years."

All of a sudden, a cold, male voice rang out. Jude lifted his head, frowning. A man dressed in a green cloak and slacks was standing before him, holding an umbrella. A young girl with pigtails stood next to him, holding a first-aid kit in her hand. Jude furrowed his brows. “You are…” “I’m Christopher Roberts,” the man said curtly as he walked over. “It’d be too risky for you to go to the hospital; there are spies of the Landry and Quinn families in all the major hospitals.
