Chapter Fifty: The House of Lies "Hey, so... I got a call last night." Ian kept his eyes on his breakfast, pushing scrambled eggs around his plate. His heart was doing a nervous tap-dance against his ribs. "My Aunt Martha. She's not doing too well. She's up in Spain, and... she's asking for me." The silence from the other side of the table was heavy. Ian forced himself to look up. Zhedya had lowered his tablet, his sharp eyes narrowed just a fraction.

Now they were unemployed and living off of odd jobs as handymen or furniture movers, and I was pretty sure they owned a junkyard. An unprofitable junkyard, even as junkyards went. I expected a sneer, or a mocking retort, but it didn’t come. Ian was pale and exhausted-looking, and he frowned at me silently. “He looks like shit too,” Nate said. “He’s white as a ghost. And he’s sweating.” Come to think of it, he wasn’t looking his best either. And…too? Little alarm bells were starting to go off. Ian’s frown deepened. “What kind of spell did you put on my brother?” he demanded at last.

Then moved close to me. "Ian's mother was a bitch. Be careful around your half-brother. If you have not passed the law yet, you need to be careful, so he does not double-cross you and give you a sibling challenge. Even if he doesn't want to, that pregnant bitch that keeps ogling all the alphas will push him to do it." He said, and I began to laugh. Uncle Abel was a good judge of character. The fact that he had figured Nala out in one sitting was amazing. Then again, the girl was evident like that. I hoped Ian would do the right thing for himself. I laughed, reassuringly placed my hand on his shoulder, and looked into his eyes.

“-I've made you blush. That old rascal will be delighted…” “Oh, Ian , a rascal, really?” Eden slowed her pace, eager to see the redness in her cheeks fade a little and especially the scent of arousal. She felt completely disoriented. “-My Aunt was quite scandalous in her younger days, I can assure you,” Ian replied with a smile. A list of lovers as long as her arm, according to my mother. She is the product of an age less shy than ours... Anne has no tongue in her pocket, as you have already seen, nor her eyes, for that matter, as soon as a handsome man passes by.”

He dialed Jake’s number as he locked up. Jake answered quickly. “Hey.” “Just letting you know I’m on my way. I should be there in about ten.” “All right. We’re ready,” Jake confirmed. “Marcus is here.” Marcus Channing was one of Ian’s oldest friends and someone he could always call on if he needed a hand. Marcus and his wife, Tori, were the guardians of his four siblings ranging from thirteen to twenty-one years old. It’d taken one phone call to Marcus. Ian’s lifelong friend hadn’t batted an eye when he’d explained he needed help tonight.

I said as I smiled at him. “Be sure of that. I’ll tell your Auntie.” “Yes Uncle. But now, we need to go back to Polaris. Sean and Aikon maybe tired of being by themselves only. And maybe Iyah is tired too.” I said, not thinking. “So… You already met Iyah?” Uncle asked with an amused look on his face. “Yes. She supervises us today.” I answered avoiding his questioning eyes. “Okay, if you say so. Visit here when you have time JD.” He said.

I woke up to the sound of voices murmuring in my ears. Opening my eyes, I saw my uncle gripping Ian by the collar, shoving him toward the door with an unmistakable command to leave. My uncle used to be a sanda coach, and lifting Ian was as easy for him as picking up a chicken. No matter how much Ian struggled, there was no escaping his grip. Ian's eyes darted to mine, and in that instant, his expression grew agitated. "Honey, are you okay?" he called out, his voice trembling.

I ran a hand through my hair before slumping into my seat. "Uncle Ian came back to the car with a bag in his hand which he placed in the car before filling up the gas. After a few minutes, he climbed into the car and drove off. "Uhm... I got you some chocolate ice cream. I read on Quora once that it's therapeutic." He said and I smiled at him. "Thanks," I said before grabbing the ice cream from the bag. "You seemed pretty mad at Cole back there." Uncle Ian said so I placed a spoon full of ice cream in my mouth.

the old woman suddenly said thoughtfully. "I was filled with joy ,when my grandson brought home a girl . We always thought he was a gay ,thank goodness those horrible rumors aren't real" the woman laughed out and the Aunt join in. Heather and Ian gave each other awkward glances. "So where do you work" the grandmother said with curious gaze. "She is my Personal Assistant"Ian quickly said. "Are you not going to let her talk for herself" the cold looking uncle said. Hahahaha !!!, So it an office romance" Vivian interrupted and winked at him.

Then again, he had mentioned that he’d investigate that incident… With that in mind, she simply nodded before getting into the vehicle with her children. Upon seeing Ian, Xavia was prompted to say, “Maison, Yulia, meet Uncle Frankston.” “Good evening, Uncle Frankston,” replied Maison in a polite, but rather unenthusiastic tone. Yulia, on the other hand, was prompted to exclaim, “Good evening, Uncle Frankston! You’re almost as handsome as Daddy, and your car is huge!” Smiling at the adorable children, Ian replied, “If you like it that much, I could give a similar one to you.”
