He sits back slowly, defeat creeping into his posture despite resistance. “You loved me,” he says. “I did.” Past tense. Clear. Unmistakable. “And now?” She doesn’t answer immediately. On the monitor, her hand moves unconsciously to her stomach. A small gesture. But Marcus notices. His eyes follow the movement. Confusion flickers. Then suspicion. I lean slightly closer to the screen. This is the moment. Marcus’s voice lowers. “Is there something you’re not telling me?” Lydia meets his gaze steadily. “Yes.”

“Results over rhetoric, Mr. Vance. Ashford delivers where others promise.” He nodded along, but his mind raced. Something feels off about her. Sophia tugged at his arm, her smile tight with jealousy as she glanced between them. “Darling, the panel is starting. We should take our seats.” Damien lingered one dangerous second longer, scanning the Ashford delegation for any sign of Michael hovering too protectively or Selene slipping into view. Nothing. I shrug my shoulders again. “He didn’t say.” A noise from down the hall catches our attention, silencing us. We duck down behind the counter and listen for movement beyond the kitchen. In another room, we hear a light flick on. “Alazaer may be right, Gray,” Bo says. Gray huffs in response. “You think I haven’t thought about that? Do you honestly think that I have gone this long- waited until it was this bad to consider that?”

Matthew grimaced. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. What do you mean by your daughter? Maddie is here. I think you’re delusional.” I snapped at his blatant lie. Smack! I struck Matthew right in his hypocritical face. A wave of shock spread across the room. Cassandra, pausing from her fake whimpers, stared at me in disbelief. “Matthew!” I yelled, my finger right up his face, “Drop the act. Where is my daughter?”

Bob just scoffed and mumbled sarcastically that they are currently at the Afterlife. Suyi chuckled and made her way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. “Did you save me from that beast?” she asked while she chopped ingredients for their meal. Although they are now souls, or undead beings, they still feel human emotions like starving, sadness, etc. “I don’t know, maybe the beast spared you” “Seriously Bob, did you? Whether you did it or not, I am still thankful.” she said as she turned her head towards him and smiled brightly, she was not yet done with her mission, and it was not yet time for her soul to vanish.

Instead, he calmly said, “George’s mother might know something.” “What do you mean?” Suzy’s attention was instantly drawn. “Is there something suspicious about George’s mother?” “No,” Dylan replied. “Based on the investigation, she doesn’t have a single anomaly. But that’s exactly what makes it suspicious.
