Amelia's POV As I made my way through the forest, the familiar sight of the towering oak tree greeted me like an old friend. Its gnarled branches reached out to me, casting dappled shadows upon the forest floor as if beckoning me closer. With each step, the soft crunch of leaves beneath my feet echoed through the tranquil air, a comforting melody that soothed my restless soul. The canopy above filtered the sunlight into a dappled mosaic of light and shadow, casting a sense of enchantment over the secluded grove where the ancient oak stood sentinel.

Leonardo provided. "The oak tree in the midst of the pines," Hazel muttered as a memory flashed in her mind at those words. After a few minutes of pondering, her eyes widened as she realized what the clue was. "It's the oak tree in the middle of the large pine field, horses' hooves printed on the soaked ground on a rainy day, blood-red moon. The earth has been hurt, or is Mother Moon mourning for her dead children?" she began. "While many sleep, the earth weeps. What a sorrowful night. Not after everything we had been through. The darkness outside hit me like a punch to the gut. It meant we had been tortured for most of the day. The moon was small, barely casting any light. The oak tree was older than the Hale fortune, its branches gnarled and thick, stretching over the stone wall like reaching fingers. I didn’t think about the physics of it. I didn’t think about the silk-blend sweater or the way the rough bark bit into my palms, scraping away the "pampered" layer of my skin to reveal the girl underneath who used to climb fire escapes to get to the roof of her apartment. I shoved my foot into a notch in the trunk, my breath hitching as a sharp pain bloomed in my side. Not now, I thought, pressing a hand to my stomach. Just a little further.
