Howl for Justice
Larry Moose he sneaks glances at meyou had my curiosity now attentioni closed my eyes and she slipped awayhe stares at me from a distance but ignores me
The oak tree presses hard against my back, against the parts of me that cannot stand. I sag into it, letting the splintered bark and cool night anchor me, ground me. The rest of me trembles, shakes, gasps. I am stripped bare, skin and soul exposed to the dark. I can’t hear beyond the quick, frantic pulse of my own heart. I can’t feel beyond the jagged, shallow breaths that refuse to slow. I can’t be anything but this raw, unbearable exhaustion. I am human, but barely. My claws retract, leaving bloodied fingertips.
