He exhaled and then without a word, he lifted his hand.

A small wild rose, bound neatly with thin forest vines.
Its petals were soft, pale pink, the rare shade that only grew after northern morning frost.
“I saw this while setting up defenses yesterday,” he said.
His voice was low now. “Thought you might like it.”
His ears were slightly flushed, something that was rare.
“Once we deal with Adrian, I’ll take you to the flower sea in the Northern Realm. The flowers there are hundreds of times prettier than this. And you can watch stars fall into the snow.”
