I walked to the edge of the pit.
I looked down at the massive, glowing black anchor. It was vibrating. It was literally humming with the heartbeat of the deep earth.
I looked at Elara, Kael, and the miners.
"Hold onto each other," I commanded.
They immediately locked arms, forming a physical line on the ledge behind me.
I placed my scarred, bleeding hands on the massive iron anchor.
