He kept yelling at Chester. “Get out! Find the escape chute and go to grand father! Chester run! Now!” Chester breathed and scrambled away on all fours, now wanting to stand up for fear of being seen. The escape chute was in the study, hidden exactly where the desk was, where the rug covered the small trap door. It was a narrow passage way, built like a tunnel slide which led all the way to the back of the house, under the ground and outside of the wall. Once outside there, he could easily find his way to grand father.

I gulped down, kicking my silly fantasies away. Against my better judgment, my eyes slid down and fell on his chest. The muscle beating so fast against my ribcage tightened at the sight of them again. Thinking of the possible pain he had to go through at one point for them to leave a persistent proof of his struggle had my heart breaking. I wasn't thinking straight, I was lost in the map of scars, hoping maybe they can lead me to my destination, lead me to the place where I can see him for who he actually is, the place where he buries his deepest darkest secret.

Morning came and the sun's harsh morning light shone through my curtains, and I groaned, my head throbbing from the remnants of last night's indulgence. My phone chimed loudly, jolting me awake. I fumbled to find it, my hand shaking slightly from the aftermath of the alcohol. I blinked at the screen, trying to focus on the notification. It was an email from the art gallery that I had just gotten a job with, the subject line filled with anticipation. My heart raced as I opened it, reading through the lines that confirmed my new job. I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts. Then, my phone dings with a message. "Talk of the devil," I say to myself as I unlock the phone and read through the message.

But the moment Percival wanted to respond, someone shouted loudly and their attention fled in the direction of the children who had decided to tease them. "Come. I want to show you something," Percival said and before he knew it, he grabbed Adelard's hand. Their footsteps intertwined together, and the hand continued to hold an icy palm. Through the branches of the trees, through the sunlight, they were almost running somewhere. And when Percival stopped, Adelard almost fell into his arms. "Look. Look up Adelard," Percival said. But he himself did not follow his own words. He was looking at Adelard. But there was something up there that made Adelard smile. There was a natural wonder.

She tossed herself toward the bathtub, bringing the curtain down around her in her rush. It was hot. She screeched and reached for the faucet, turning it the complete opposite way. “Water.” She sighed a long contented sigh. It was pure pleasure as the fire inside her cooled. “What the-” A voice shouted.She looked up through her veil that clung to her face. “Fuck.” She echoed the Alpha’s earlier word with panic.

It is practically taunting me to open it, it’s waving at me. Moving to the closet, I reach for my clothes that I brought. I was not going back to get my things. I grab my shorts and T-shirt and put them on. The heat here is like back home. I look at the new ink on the inside of my upper arm. Unbreakable written in beautiful script. My new motto. I move and sit on the bed next to the folder, my fingers fidget on my lap. I look at it and reach for it. I carefully open the folder and look at the information.
