The Last Advice I Ever Gave
In his muddied, chaotic mind, that was the darkest, most terrifying moment in his life.
"It's alright, Quincy. It's alright." I soothed him over and over again. "I'm alright now. I didn't die. You saved me."
My voice gradually calmed him down. He looked at me with his murky eyes and asked quietly, "Really? Gina's fine?"
"Yes."
"That's a relief." He heaved a sigh and muttered to himself, "I'd give anything for her to be safe, even my brains."
The final day came with a whisper. He had lost the strength to even talk. The only sound left in the room was the beeps of the ventilator machine.
