“Take Corey and head toward the top of the street. I’ll check the other end. If we don’t find anything, we meet back here and figure out the next step.”
Corey clings to Lucas with concern lining her brows. “Be careful, Hayley.”
“I will.” And right then, we split off into the night.
Making my way down the street, I notice the night has grown significantly darker now. The street lamps thin out the farther I go, and their dim glow barely reaches the pavement. The only real light now comes from above—and that’s when I notice it.
