He wanted to announce their relationship on Valentine's Day. I tapped the like button. If he liked her that much, then they might as well stay locked together forever. A few minutes later, a message suddenly popped up on my phone. Orion Vance: "Happy Valentine's Day." I stared at the name for several seconds, my mind freezing. I never expected he would be the first person to say that to me.

’ he chipped in almost immediately. ‘And you too,’ I replied. ‘Tomorrow is Valentine,’ he said, ‘I got you baby. Ours is love forever, and I do love you my Olive plant.’ ...Alarm rings... 6:00 am. It’s Wednesday morning, the 14th of February 2018. ‘Happy birthday Mum, happy Valentine’s day everyone!’ I said. ‘Happy Valentine’s day,’ the already dressed up Stella said. ‘You said we would be going shopping today as early as 6 am, it’s 6 am, let’s get the day rolling Olive. Tick tock says the clock.’ We both laughed.

I picked it up and slowly opened it as I went to the balcony of my room while the breeze blew gently. Dear Charlie, Happy valentine day. I’m not really good at writing letters since this is my first attempt but I wanted to say that I am very lucky that you came into my life. No one ever understood me or cared for me as much as they say they do, not even my own parents but you came like an element of surprise and showed me the world isn’t black or white. It has grey and I’m grey, we all are before we talk about colors of the soul. You are the reason I laugh every day, my warmth and security, the woman who made me accept this gift as a blessing. I took the card with my left hand and flipped it open to read the words that were written inside the card and they blew me away. Thank you for coming into my life. Before you came into my life, I never felt this. I never told you this but you mean the world to me. I know I’ve not spoken the best of words to you but I want you to know that I love you. I took all the time in the world to put this together, so this letter can put a smile on your face and comfort you whenever I am away from you or, at times, when I am not there for you. I love your smile; I love the look in your eyes, how they sparkle, and the way you are concerned about me. I just want to let you know how beautiful your heart i

Looks like he didn’t have a good time with Ma’am Elaine,” Volstrige said. “What’s the occasion?” one of them asked, surprising the three of them. Volstrige cleared his throat and confidently spoke. “Valentine’s Day is when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts.” Brennon immediately slapped him. “Idiot, you’re holding a cheat sheet. Give me your phone!” Brennon said as he wrestled with Volstrige because he hadn’t finished reading what was on the screen.

Not sealed. Not urgent. Handwritten, ink smudged in places where the writer paused too long. It’s from the valley.

She hugs him to her body, whispering in his ear, "Giving mommy your virginity baby . . . that has to be the best Valentine's gift ever. I love you so much." The old grandfather clock downstairs starts to chime. Its midnight and Saint Valentine's Day may be over, but their new life is just beginning.
