The dark figures standing in every corner of his empire cast their voices around with evil and planning for him to fall. The heart of it was Valentine. A fierce burning radiated out of her unyielding eyes. She did not know everything, and he feared if she ever knew would forgive him for it. It wasn't just him, however that posed a threat to her; it was the dangerous world he existed in. His enemies who were also hungry for power and vengeance had already put their crosshairs on her. For him, Valentine wasn't a human; she was merely a way to an end, a perfect pawn with which to dismantle his empire, brick by brick.

I peep to see her lying on the floor soaked in a pool of blood. The sight of her blood angered me. I dash inside without thinking. Brian followed since he had no choice. I was shocked when I saw Rosie. There was some other lady with her. “Look who we have here? The lover boy. Are you here to save your lost princess?” She laughed. “How fun it was playing with you two. Oh my bad! No introduction. I am Valentine. That name should ring a bell right?” Valentine? My eyes widened when I realized. The only Valentine I have heard of is Andrea's friend. I looked over to Andrea and she nodded weakly.

I whisper. “I like it,” he replies. “Tell those assholes you have my blessing and permission to join the pack and shift when they're done. I'm going back to bed. And just like that, Valentine takes another long drink from his drink and transforms right there on the couch. Instead of green magic, red wolf energy, or whatever it is, it covers it and then there's just an all black wolf on the couch. The wolf looks at me, its eyes red and scary, before jumping off the couch and running towards the window. He leaps through it, smashing it to pieces and I stare wordlessly at the torn clothes and whiskey bottle left on the sofa.

Eugene asked with unfriendly eyes, swallowing the words that might have followed: "More than I already am?" Valentine slightly raised his eyebrows, as if he had received an unexpected question. Eugene stared at Valentine with an expressionless face. A strange relationship that had progressed from witness to vomiting, to kissing, to where they were now. Valentine had given gifts, made threats, and kissed him. He acted like a man in love and then suddenly committed a brutal murder in front of Eugene. He showed aspects of himself that didn't need to be shown. What am I to this man? What meaning do I have?

But after Marianne's death, I also realized by investigating their family, that they are actually a family that is comparable in power with us— the Valentine's. I stared Khrystyanna's face for a while and then threw all the bothering thoughts away. I smiled at her and then kissed her forehead. "Alright. If that's what you want, I will do so, my 'Cherrie'." My lips went down from her forehead, to the tip of her nose and then her lips. She froze in shock but loosened up after a while. Her lips are like blood for us vampires. It is so sweet and intoxicating. It is so sexy and dangerous at the same time. But…

Others lead you home. The best Valentine's Day gift wasn't a proposal, roses, or someone's too-late regret. It was saving myself from a love that had already fallen apart.

"You'd be worse than this if you had." I groan, rub my face in my hands at something else I have no clue about and don't really want to find out. "Yeahhh," She laughs. "Let's have that conversation when you're feeling a bit less like a corpse." Pushing the existential crises aside, I press further. "Are you bonded?" Valentine's expression turns horrified. "Absolutely not, bitch. I'm a Beta." The relief in her voice is extraordinary. "Thank fuck." The last of my magic drink goes down the wrong hole and I choke.

Valentine was ready to stop the cargo. “Time out!” he shouts “This is the end of the road for you today, stop and hand over whatever you are carrying or else it will be bloody” he shouts at them but the carriages weren’t stopping, forcefully, he didn’t need to put extra effort anymore when he sees them up close, Valentine could see the humans pointing their crossbows at him. But well, that wouldn’t be enough to worry him even if it was a silver arrow, such a trivial thing could only catch his attention at best.
