Chapter 8: Tangerine's Confrontation Tangerine couldn't believe that she was standing in front of Uno, a vampire hunter, who was also the owner of the private resort she was staying at. Her mind was racing, trying to process everything that had happened in the past few minutes. She had been caught off guard by Uno's sudden appearance, and now she didn't know what to do. "You're a vampire hunter?" Tangerine asked, still in shock. "Yes," Uno replied, his tone serious. "I've been hunting vampires for years."

I immediately teleported to the back of one of them and put him to sleep then I kicked the one who was still holding Clementine's arm and put him to sleep as well. I turned around in front of us and immediately kicked the runner in our direction. I immediately put him to sleep and then turned my attention to the vampire above. I immediately flew up and put it to sleep as well. When I was weak, I fell down and swallowed when I saw some more wolf vampires rising. "Clementine hide!" I shouted but she didn't seem to hear anything because she was just looking at the rising wolf vampire. She turned to me and immediately ran towards my direction then hugged me.

Truth was he only wanted to see the inside of her little condo over there, maybe find a good window to snipe her through, that or find out how close he can get before she realises she's in danger. Clearly she's clueless, hunters have been taught to use pain in order to break a compel, if he had known Rebecca was going to do it he would have done it, but it seems her bite had him tranced beyond that, he subconsciously felt his neck, there where no prick marks so it was true that a vampire can heal them with a lick, he shuddered. “What are you talking about?” She crouched down beside me, her lips curling into a cruel smile. “We’re vampire hunters, sweetheart. And you’re just the beginning.” Vampire hunters. The words echoed in my mind, bringing a fresh wave of dread. I had heard of them, of course—humans who had dedicated their lives to hunting down and killing vampires. But I had never encountered any before, and I had always assumed they were more myth than reality. Now, as I looked into the eyes of this woman, I realized how wrong I had been.

The beta said, neatly placing the daggers and blades on the table. "Hunters….." Evelyn muttered, the word rolling out of her tongue leaving a bitter taste. "Who's hunters?" Rain asked before flopping down on one of the chairs. "Hunters are humans or sometimes other supernatural beings like us, " Scarlett started, "Humans were the first ones known as hunters. They used to hunt us and other supernatural beings like us because they were afraid of our power but that changed long ago. Now, hunters include humans, vampires, and even werewolves. They're a group of people who kill and attack people when they are offered money for the job." Scarlett heaved a sigh. "Hunter attacks are surprising which

--- They found the first hunter at the edge of a small clearing. He was a vampire, pale and gaunt, with red eyes that glowed in the dim light. He was kneeling over the body of a wolf, one of Seraphine's corrupted soldiers, checking for signs of life. He looked up as Kael approached, his hand reaching for his weapon. Kael didn't give him the chance. He lunged, his sword cutting through the vampire's throat before the creature could cry out. The hunter collapsed, his blood soaking into the forest floor, and Kael stood over him, breathing hard.

Hunter tried to assure me. “Besides…” He leaned back into the cushion. “Wasn't the cause of death a Vampire, we will erase them with stupid ease before any more attack is carried out in these walls. I have a squad that answers to me and now indirectly, answers to you who are specialized in the art of darkling combat.” Hunter announced proudly. He seemed so confident, it became infectious. I began to think if I was the only one overthinking it. Maybe it was the creeping fog the previous night that still caused me an unpleasant feeling, or the horrible nightmare I initially had.
