So he nodded. “I will wait until your return,” he said. “I have a gift for you,” she said softly, just as hell broke loose in the entrance of his mansion. The yell of one of his vampires was heard as a woosh of brightness entered the pool room, three of his people turning to ash in seconds as a silver stake streaked through the air. “Mavery, you lied!!” came the yell of a woman in all black as she rushed forward, as another of his vampires trying to stop her entrance went down.

I don't remember having a sacred book with me. Hold on. Could it be the book that I thought belonged to my mom? "It's the book you almost destroyed," he informed me. Oh, maybe that's why he texted me to not tear it up. At that time I was so confused and thought he was a stalker. Little did I know he was actually a blood-sucking demon. Or was he? "Since you're a vampire, do you drink blood?" I asked because from what I know, they're always thirsty for blood and he hasn't shown any sign of that.

He led the fight, showing unwavering determination and guided his pack with bravery and skill. In the midst of the chaos, a vampire pounced on Tyler, sinking its teeth deep into his flesh. Pain shot through his body as the venom spread, threatening to take over. His vision blurred, and he staggered back, holding onto his wound. A female Omega, witnessing the attack, quickly slaid the vampire. She hurried to Tyler's side, her eyes filled with fear and worry. "General! No!" she cried out, her voice desperate. She reached out to him, her touch gentle but urgent.

Silas growled, “What are you doing interrupting us?” “Sire, the Phantomhives are attacking the city, they are coming from the catacombs.” Said a guard, one I had never seen before. Who was the vampire? Who had sent him to warn us? I tried to enter the vampires mind, but it was clouded with panic, he seemed to be really worried and afraid, though I suspect that could be about the attack. But then, why had the Phantomhives chose now to attack? Why would they break the treaty? What did they have to gain?

I wanted to see that place. It was just two hours into day break, everyone had gone to sleep. I hurried into the kitchen and drank a whole bottle of a special liquid Edmund and Hillary introduced to us. It was called vamscren and it allowed vampires to walk in the sun for a while without being affected by it. Somehow, vamscren made me feel a bit better about becoming a vampire as I didn’t have to always be limited by the sun. The vamscren was made from dragon tears and Edmund and Hillary, along with Dana, arranged with the manufacturers to always supply it to the castle, so we never ran out. After drinking, I got my cloak and flew out of the castle, to see my former town.

Lawler calls happily over the noise of all the vampires, and it earns him another round of cheers. We get to the portal in record time. “Do you mean it?” A woman runs up behind us on the beach, holding an infant. “Do we mean what?” I ask. “That we are welcome to come to visit?” “Yes, any time.” “May I come now?” She asks, looking around, unsure. “Are you ok?” Lawler asks her as her eyes scan around us frantically. “Please may I come?” “You may.” I take her hand, then Lawler’s after he has cut open his hand for payment. “The Northern Vampire Kingdom.” He states as we walk through, back to an army of creatures waiting on us.

“You think I’m crazy, but that’s the only explanation that makes sense.” I scoffed. “You sound like a conspiracy theorist. Vampires don’t exist, and you’ve got to stop reading all those fantasy books.” Before she could say anything else, I grabbed another slice of toast and breezed out of the apartment. My condolences to the victims, but vampire attacks were just so stupidly unrealistic. Like creatures of the night actually existed. Right, sure. “Mr. Vale’s not in right now.” Celine said at the reception, looking me up and down.

The invitation arrived on a Thursday morning in a black envelope sealed with red wax. Not Tribunal red. Not Conclave marking. The crest pressed into the wax was old and precise and my vampire side recognized it before my eyes finished reading it, the way she recognized anything connected to that particular bloodline — deep and immediate and not entirely welcome. Lucian had sent an invitation bearing the Royal Vampire Court seal. Addressed not to Ironveil. Not to Brecken Holt, Alpha. To Aria Frost.
