Doesn’t yield no matter her condition.” Maria smirked at me, her dark eyes fixed on my growing belly. “You are right,” she said, her tone dripping with malice. “I’ve always wanted to mess with the labyrinthine face you use to seduce men.” Without warning, Maria drew two gleaming daggers and lunged at me with the lethal speed I knew only a shadow assassin could muster.
