Familiars are a reflection of a Vampires true character.” Seraphina’s brows were knitted trying to make sense of what Bethel was saying. “Is that why Lord Stevano of House De-Buccleuch has that silver serpent on his face?” whispered Rose. “Yes, his familiar is a serpent, in fact the whole House De-Buccluech are reptiles of some sort, bunch of cold-blooded snakes” Bethel trailed off.

“No. I only broke his neck. It will only knock him out for a couple of hours until his healing kicks in. I can’t kill him it might risk a war. Until I know what they are doing I need to be careful.” “How did you know they were vampires? Can you smell them? ” “Yeah they all smell….disgusting. Literally like dead bodies. But if you don’t have super sense of smell it’s hard to tell. Their eyes are the only real sign. It curled around me like smoke and made my skin prickle. “The vampires have a rare trait,” he said slowly, leaning back in his chair. “When they claim a human, they bite into their neck and leave a mark called the Blood Mark. It binds them. Body and mind.” My fingers curled into my lap and I could almost feel his teeth again in my neck, claiming me.

Bright brown eyes widened in shock, the part of her lower face concealed with a scarf. He first heard a gasp from her before his brain registered what was happening. He wasn't perceiving all those combinations he had rattled off in his mind earlier on. It was a mate scent! And since he seemed to find those scents attractive, it came to him in thy form. His was mated to a vamp? He felt the pull, the force pushing him towards the female. He knew she would feel it too, probably even get a scent for him, after all, vampires also got similar mate signs with wolves.

This pull is strange, scary but amazing. The problem now is, how do I keep the most stubborn Vampire to ever exist safe without having a fight with her?
