I pat its head, and it nudges my hand before running off. Across the snow-covered clearing, a figure stands. He’s haggard, a skeletal ghost of a man with a ragged beard and bloodshot eyes. It’s Domine. He stands frozen, watching me treat the pup. He watches my gentle smile—a tenderness he will never have again. His heart feels like it’s being crushed. "Halen..." he whispers to himself. "So you can smile like that without me... I was your cage... I was the one holding you back."

"Smile, Olive." I blinked a few times after I heard Atlas chuckled before returning to reality. I took a glimpse of Atlas. He was looking at his Mom while he strongly gripped my arm.
