The cold night air rushed in, whipping through my hair, thick with the scent of blood and burning rubber.
I scanned the bikers, looking for the one calling the shots. There. He was in the center, barking orders, motioning with sharp gestures. His face was hard, focused, a man who’d seen war and lived through it. But he wasn’t living through this.
I took my shot.
The bullet struck him dead in the chest. His body jerked, his hands flailing for something to grab, but there was nothing. He hit the pavement hard, his limbs folding under him at unnatural angles.
