A Flame in the Shadow
We were going to war… quietly.
The Velvet Coil has never felt so alive. Music curls through the air; low and decadent, threaded with laughter that feels a little too loud, a little too intentional. Like we’re all trying to prove something to ourselves. Like if we drink enough, laugh hard enough, touch long enough, tomorrow won’t come sharpened with blades.
Candles burn in every corner, their flames reflecting off velvet walls and dark glass. Someone, probably Lazriel, has conjured a spread of food that feels indulgent to the point of arrogance. Wine flows freely, stronger things too. This isn’t strategy, this is defiance.
