She was standing a little distance away, right outside the farmhouse.
The place was wide and open, fields stretching endlessly behind the house, the soil still damp from earlier watering. Soft sunlight so bright striking her face, but unfortunately, positioned in the most unhelpful way possible.
The light hit her face directly.
Too directly.
So much that James couldn’t make out her features clearly.
But her hair…
Her hair was open, caramel-brown strands glowing under the light like warm honey. A light scarf was loosely tied around her neck, fluttering slightly with the breeze. She wore a knee-length, light-colored dress that moved gently against her legs, simple yet unfairly beautiful.
