“Mum, what are you doing!?” Clyde came too late because the damage was already done. Violet couldn't even feel the skin of her arm except for the burning pain. When the bodyguards let go of her, she couldn't remain on her feet either, and she fell on the floor, wincing from the sharp pain. “What have you done, Mum!?” Clyde sounded frustrated. “Did Violet offend you?” He came forward to pick her up. Seriously, Violet wanted to disappear. She just wanted to get out of this damned place.

Blood bubbled from her lips as she collapsed sideways onto the marble floor. “No!” Aria screamed, clutching her own wound. Violet lay there, gasping, blood spreading rapidly beneath her. Her eyes found Aria across the room. “I… just wanted… what you had…” she whispered, voice fading. “Why… did you always… win…?” Her body convulsed once. Then she went still. The officers rushed forward, but it was too late. Violet was dead. The room fell into stunned silence, broken only by the distant sirens and Aria’s quiet sobbing.

Violet mumbled, stooping to her level and outstretching a helping hand. Anger coursed through Willow as she glanced at the hand. She bit her lips and forced the tears trying to slide out of her eyes. Violet had become wild and untamed. She couldn't beat her despite all. The whole thing was more painful because of the humiliation. She could accept the one at the mall but not the one at an elite party where she came to network and meet with people of class.

For Violet. Always.

His eyes went wide—fear flickering, a silent scream caught in his throat. Violet leaned in, her lips a breath away from his ear. “Did you really think you mattered, Dylan?” she whispered. “You were just a dog I used to set my plan in motion.” Then the knife retracted, the runes slithering back into her skin, and Dylan's body crumpled to the floor—lifeless. A pool of blood spread beneath him. Violet wiped her hands together as if brushing off dirt and turned to me with a smile. “Now,” she said brightly, “where were we?”

Max's POV I watched Violet work from across the room, her hands moving precisely as she mixed ingredients for the revelation potion. She'd been at it for hours, ever since we got back from Celeste's cottage. The starfall essence sat in a small vial beside her, glowing faintly in the dim light. She was beautiful when she was focused like this. Her blue hair fell forward, partially hiding her face. Her expression was intense, determined. Everything about her drew me in.

Dangerous sparks flew between the two, trying to see through each other's masks. "Mr. Brown, what's this hottie's name? You didn't seem to ever mention him before." Violet heard Carl ask as she walked past him. She stopped a little but continued forward. Her gaze was focused. Even if Carl stretched his foot out and tried to test her, she held back her instinct to dodge. She pretended to trip and fell down. The sound of her falling made Elle look back. She happily snickered when she saw Violet on the ground. She gasped, "Oh, my, and he is a bodyguard? He even fell down while walking on flat ground."

When she started to put the glass down, Zaiden stopped her. "Drink all of it." He told her. Violet couldn't stop crying as she swallowed all of the water. Everyone waited to see what was going to happen, and they didn't have to wait long. Violet dropped the glass and put her hand to her throat as she fell to the ground. She began convulsing, and within minutes, she was dead. Everyone looked at Selena, who was staring at Violet on the floor. They all had the same question. What was in that water?
