Panic reflected in Violet's eyes as she struggled to contain the growing flames. "Isn't that too much?" Peony shouted. I pulled Rose and Jasmine behind me. The pleasant warmth was now turning the air of the glass dome extremely hot. "V-Violet!" Peony shouted. I stopped her from diving into danger. "What is this! Why won't my energy obey me?!" Violet screamed in panic.

She didn’t give them a chance to strike. With a sharp flick of her wrist, she unleashed a wave of violet fire. It arced through the air, illuminating the cavern in an eerie glow before slamming into the first wave of monstrosities. The flames devoured them instantly, reducing them to cinders before they could take another step. But more followed. Dozens of them, spilling through the rift like a flood.

We dismounted built a fire from the last dry wood we could scavenge low flames that barely pushed back the dark. Snapping my eyes open, I watch as the blue and orange flames tangle, becoming one, and colliding so hard that my body gets thrown back with the force. The glass of the windows breaks and shatters around the hall. The violet—blue flame reigns, wrapping around me, around everyone as if protecting and healing others. I glance down at my palms. My blisters start disappearing. An ear—piercing screech of torment tears through my heart and makes me look up. I can’t see the fireball anymore. I can’t even see Natalie because of the Violet—blue hue now covering everything. “ Natalie. ” I push myself to my feet and sprint in the direction where I last saw her.

Giving it a squeeze to tell me to show him. "We'll go on then." The Alpha's tone was cold and harsh. I closed my eyes and let Issie do the work. Tingles surrounded my face like always. I now used this little burning ball of purple to heal my cuts, cupping my arm with my flame covered hand. I closed my eyes as the warmth spread throughout my arm, letting me know that I was all healed and no longer bleeding. The Knights gasped when I removed my hand, shaking it once to extinguish the flames. Rosanna was glaring at me with tear stained eyes and her hands were balled up against her dress. His Majesty also looked pretty stunned, with his deep red eyes bouncing between my healed arm and my eyes.

Evelyn said nervously as soon as we met. I crouched down and hugged my daughter tightly. "Violet, tell Daddy, what did you dream about?" Violet looked at me, with a hint of fear in her eyes. "Daddy, I dreamed of Mommy, but I couldn't see her face clearly. I dreamed of a sea of fire, and many people were crying and screaming. I saw you fighting in the fire, but everything was swallowed by darkness." These words made my heart tighten. I knew that Violet's dream was no accident. It foretold the huge crisis we were about to face.

"H-how? I remember perfectly well when you were swimming in the burning flames of the poisonous fire." Amethyst muttered under her breath, still analysing the black covers of the big, bold book that she knew she burnt a few months ago. Her hands trembled at its heaviness — at how fresh and old it smelled. Old tales and unknown prophecies were still lingering on every page she turned over.
