Lexie's POV A week later, Daniella was gone. I didn't hold a funeral for her according to her will. Instead, I buried her in the place she had chosen before she passed. There was a lake in front of it, where the sunset could be seen. In the spring, tiny blue and pink flowers would bloom. She didn't suffer much when she died. I cried as I kept telling her I was sorry, but she just smiled and said, "I've already forgiven you."

Chase's movements grew stiff as if his entire being was turning into a lifeless puppet. Suddenly, Chase let out a beastly roar. Violet flames erupted across his body, engulfing him entirely. His figure burned with intense heat, glowing red-hot. "What?! Impossible!" Cain was horrified. The violet flames radiating from Chase's body caused an inexplicable sense of dread within him, as if he were facing his natural nemesis. Moreover, he felt excruciating pain. It was as if countless ants were gnawing on his internal organs, making Chase feel a bone-deep agony.

The person stuttered, "M-Mr. Zalmer… are you saying D-Dr. Zal—Winifred—is your daughter?" Serena ignored the crowd and moved the cursor to play the surveillance footage. In it, I wore a white laboratory coat and wore a surgical mask as I meticulously worked on an experiment. Everything seemed normal. Just then, the glass beaker before me caught on fire without warning. Flames soon shot to the sky as a thick plume of smoke came from the beaker. Upon seeing that, Raiden pointed at the screen and exclaimed, "There! Winifred, you must've done something wrong. Don't worry, though. I can endure your punishment on your behalf!"
